Recently I got a chance to recover a client’s website which was hacked and all links were broken. So i will explain it Step-by-Step

Step 1: Contact Your Hosting Provider or Login into cPanel

When you notice that your website is Hacked then your very first step is to contact your hosting provider for your cPanel Credentials. If you have cPanel Credentials then Login.

Step 2: Backup Database and Application Files

If you do login then the second action is backup all application files and Database File(Export Database File).

Step 3: Change All Credentials even your email password

Hackers are highly Technical Person, they know the vulnerabilities in application and penetrate in application. So it’s better to change all credentials like application username, password and email password too.

Step 4: Setup in local Environment

Last and very important step in recovery is to set up a Website in a local environment and make it run normally.

So, Hacker mess up with your files and directory in the case of WordPress your wp-config.php file was overwritten or deleted.

You need to make a fresh wp-config.php  file so you can rename wp-config-sample.php or Download fresh file from Internet.

After creating wp-config.php , you need to write Database Name, Username and Password.

Don’t forget to import the database file into your local environment using localhost/phpmyadmin which is exported from your server.
